On November 18, 2016, Saint-Gobain NorPro’s Soddy-Daisy, TN facility celebrated 100 years of ceramic manufacturing. The plant was built for $40,000 by B. Mifflin Hood in 1916 to manufacture high-end tiles and chemical process supports. “Over the past 100 years, this plant has served the local community and its worldwide market by adapting itself and its products to remain successful” noted Sam Barron, Business Manager, Process Ceramics Worldwide. “The team at this site has always risen to the challenge, whether for its customers or other Saint-Gobain businesses, and is posed to continue to for the next 100 years.”
Part of Saint-Gobain since 1990, this site of 27 employees manufactures support media and ceramic packings to support the refining, natural gas processing, and chemical process industries. The celebration was attended by top Saint-Gobain NorPro management, as well as the Hamilton County Mayor, local Chamber of Commerce, retirees, suppliers, and key customers.
